Phyllis L. Shane, age 90, of Berkey, Ohio, passed away peacefully, Monday morning, April 10, 2017, at Swanton Health Care & Retirement Center. She was born December 4, 1926 in Toledo, Ohio to Henry and Louise Schultz. On April 7, 1956, she married the love of her life, Edward Shane; he preceded her in death April 12, 2015.
Phyllis worked as a secretary/bookkeeper for several businesses and she and her husband, Ed, enjoyed retirement by traveling cross country in their RV and going as far west as Alaska. She was a member of the Ohio Genealogical Society, Sylvania Moose Lodge #1579, and was a member of the Miata Club for several years. Phyllis loved to camp, garden, cook, bake, sew, and work on paintings. Most of all she loved to spend her time with her two granddaughters, and great-grandchildren.
She will be greatly missed by her son, Bruce (Karen) Shane of Delta, OH; granddaughters, Sarah Bradish and Katie Shane; great-grandchildren, Elizabeth and David Bradish; brother, Don (Marilyn) Schultz; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Edward; son, Matthew Shane; and sister, Wanda (Robert) Erkert.
A memorial gathering will be held Monday, April 17th from 2:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Weigel Funeral Home, 204 Chestnut St. in Swanton (419.826.2631). Interment will be private.
The family extends a heartfelt thank you to the nurses and staff at Swanton Health Care & Retirement Center and Great Lakes Caring Hospice for their wonderful care and compassion.
Memorial contributions may be made to Great Lakes Caring Hospice or the Northwest Chapter of Alzheimer’s Association.

We were not able to attend the memorial for Phyllis. In the days ahead, may Jesus our God of comfort continue to hold you all in the palm of His hand as you remember her life legacy. 'It is well, it is well with my soul'.
