Vera C. Ott, age 92, of Metamora, Ohio, entered into eternal life on Tuesday afternoon, October 8, 2013, at Lake Park Comfort Care in Sylvania. She was born July 7, 1921 in Metamora, Ohio to the late Louie and Lena (Paulsen) Mossing. Vera graduated from Metamora High School, Class of ’39, and went on to work as a secretary for Hickcock Oil Company and Dunn & Bradstreet. Vera married William A. Ott and he preceded her in death on April 5, 1989.
Vera retired from the Pilliod Cabinet Company in Swanton where she worked for many years. She was a faithful member of Holy Trinity Catholic Parish in Assumption and its Altar-Rosary Society. She was also a member of the C.W.V. Ladies Auxiliary Post #306 Assumption and the Lyons V.F.W. Ladies Auxiliary Post # 7574.
Vera loved playing cards and going to play bingo. She also enjoyed knitting and crocheting.
Left to cherish her memory are her children, Michael (Sharon) Ott, Charles W. Ott, Joan E. (Howard, Jr.) Terrill and Joanna K. (Frank) Terrill; 7 grandchildren, Christopher (Becky) Ott, Lesley (Greg) Raney, Matthew (Jackline) Terrill, Amy (Joseph) Pirokowski, Jennifer (David) McCoy, Elizabeth (Toby) Flores, and Megan (Jude) Grinpas; and 14 great-grandchildren.
Besides her parents and her husband, William, Vera was preceded in death by her brother, Menard Mossing.
Family and friends may visit Friday, October 11th from 3 to 8 p.m. at the Weigel Funeral Home, 413 E. Main St. in Metamora, where a Vigil service will be held at 7:00 p.m. Prayers will begin in the funeral home, Saturday, October 12th at 9:30 a.m., followed by a Mass of Resurrection at 10:00 a.m. at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Assumption. Father Michael Dandurand will officiate. Interment will follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to Holy Trinity Church.
