Alvin A. Straw, age 53, of Swanton, Ohio, went Home peacefully, following a 13 month illness, Thursday afternoon, November 18, 2010, at The Toledo Hospital, with his loving family at his side. He was born January 21, 1957, and was a graduate of Swanton High School.

Alvin was a member of Izaak Walton League of America – Delta Chapter, where he served as youth director and trustee. His life revolved around spoiling his nieces and nephews and great-nieces and nephews. He especially loved fishing with his nephews.

Left to cherish his memory are his loving parents, Betty and Clarence “Bud” Sumner; siblings, Linda (Rick) Gamber, Robert (Robin) Straw, Lenette “Sami” (Jim) O’Brien, Kandy (Ron) Warner, Mary (Jim) Stickles, and LeeAnn Rayoum; step sisters, Linda Wheating and Lisa Kirk; step brother, Ken Sumner; 27 nieces and nephews; and a host of great-nieces and nephews.

Alvin was preceded in death by his father, Robert; and sister, Karen.

Friends and family may visit Monday, November 22nd from 2 to 8 p.m. at the Weigel Funeral Home in Swanton. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, November 23rd at 11:00 a.m. in the funeral home with Pastor George Shaver officiating. Interment will follow at South Swanton Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to the family.
