Anna M. Mrkva

Anna M. Mrkva, age 101, life-long resident of Metamora, Ohio, entered into eternal life, Monday morning, February 29, 2016, at Swanton Valley Care Center. Anna was born July 14, 1914 in Berkey, Ohio to Bart and Frances (Konecny) Stasa. She was married to Albert Mrkva and he preceded her in death in 1981.

Anna was devoted to her Catholic faith and was member of Holy Trinity Catholic Parish and its Altar and Rosary Society, serving the role as a former officer. She was past member of the Czech Dancers Polka Club and was very proud of her Czech heritage. Anna enjoyed gardening, quilting, sewing, cooking and baking; especially Czech pastries.

Anna will be remembered for her sharp memory, and will be greatly missed by her loving daughter, Mary Ann Tidswell of Berkey, OH; granddaughters, Mary Ann (Tom) Bick and Lisa Tidswell; great-grandchildren, Adam and Abby Bick; her sisters, Frances Zeintek, Betty Harbal, and Mildred Oliver; sister-in-law, Dorothy Stasa; as well as many nieces and nephews.

Besides her husband, Albert, Anna was preceded in death by her parents; son-in-law, Ray Tidswell; sisters, Frances Stasa, Rose Patek, and Mary Patek; infant brother, Edward; brothers, Steve Stasa, Frank Stasa, John Stasa, Tony Stasa, Charlie Stasa, and Leslie Stasa.

Family and friends may visit Thursday, March 3rd from 3 to 8 p.m. at the Weigel Funeral Home in Metamora, where the Rosary will be recited at 7:00 p.m. Visitation will continue Friday, March 4th from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Assumption, where a Mass of Resurrection will begin at 11:00 a.m., with Fr. Michael Dandurand presiding. Interment will follow at St. Mary's Cemetery.

Many thanks to the wonderful nurses and staff at Swanton Valley Care and Heartland Hospice for the compassionate care provided to Anna.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Holy Trinity Church or Heartland Hospice.
