Arthur Edward Buckenmeyer, age 82, of Swanton, Ohio, entered into rest Saturday, December 1, 2007 at St. Vincent Mercy Medical Center, following a recent stroke. He was born August 8, 1925 in Swanton, Ohio to the late Robert and Leone (Neason) Buckenmeyer. He was a 1942 graduate of Swanton High School and served in the United States Navy during WWII. On June 10, 1950, he married Marietta Knight. She preceded him in death on December 27, 1994.

Arthur worked construction as a carpenter until his retirement in 1992. He was a member of Bay View Yacht Club where he served as Past Commodore and was a member of the Blue Gavel. In addition to boating and all things nautical, he loved wood working and working in his yard.

Arthur is survived by his children, Janet (Ed) Ritter of Swanton, OH, Keith (Julie) Buckenmeyer of Swanton, OH, Tracey Buckenmeyer of Geneva, Switzerland, Scott (Kathy) Buckenmeyer of Swanton, OH, Robin (Jim) Kass of Swanton, OH and Sandy (David) Lewis of Swanton, OH; 11 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren; sisters, Irene (William) Stern and Dorothy (Don) Ronau and brother, Harold (Dorothy) Buckenmeyer, as well as several nieces and nephews.

Friends and family may visit Tuesday, December 4th from 2 to 8 p.m. at the Weigel Funeral Home, 204 Chestnut St. in Swanton (419-826-2631), where a Blue Gavel service will be held at 7:30 p.m. Funeral services will be held Wednesday December 5th at 10:00 a.m. in the funeral home. Interment will follow at Toledo Memorial Park.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society in the name of Marietta Buckenmeyer.
