Barbara J. Doren

Barbara J. Doren, of Swanton, Ohio, passed away peacefully on her 80th birthday, Wednesday, November 25, 2015 at Hospice of Northwest Ohio in Toledo. She was born in Toledo, Ohio to Harold and Marguerite (Dunbar) Wagner and was a 1953 graduate of Swanton High School. She married her beloved husband, Karl Doren on November 29, 1958.

Barbara worked for the United Telephone Company for 17 years and also worked as a bookeeper for Paul's Flower Shop in Swanton. She also volunteered as a reading mentor for 9 years at Crestwood Elementary School. Barbara thoroughly enjoyed any job she ever worked at. She and her late husband, Karl, loved camping at Sunny's Campground with their special friends, The Smith's and The Sominski's.

Barbara was a 50-year member of the Order of the Eastern Star-Fulton County Chapter #67, Swanton Elks Ladies Auxiliary and the Delta Fraternal Order of Eagles.

She is survived by her daughter, Cyndie (Stan) Sprow; grandson, Jeremey Sprow; granddaughter, Stephanie (Samson) Holbrook; 7 great-grandchildren; sisters, Edythe Curry and Marguerite MacDonald; several nieces and nephews; and Colt the cat.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Karl; son, Mark Doren; sister, Lorelei Rinehart and brothers, Delbert and Jack Wagner.

Family and friends may visit Monday, November 30th from 2 to 8 p.m. at the Weigel Funeral Home in Swanton, where an Eastern Star service will begin at 7:00 p.m. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, December 1st at 11:00 a.m. in the funeral home with Pastor David Rison officiating. Interment will follow at East Swanton Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to Planned Pethood, Maumee Valley Save-A-Pet, Hospice of Northwest Ohio or The Swanton Fire & Rescue.
