Candida Marie McVey

Candida Marie McVey, age 48 of Swanton, Ohio, a beloved mother, daughter and sister, passed away Sunday, September 17, 2023, at The University of Toledo Medical Center. She was born May 29, 1975, in Wauseon, Ohio to Emilio and Linda (Massie) McVey. 

 

Affectionately known as "Chach" or Candi, her joyful presence brightened the lives of those around her. Candi was a 1993 graduate of Evergreen High School and attended Owens Community College. She had a successful career as a real estate agent for ReMax Central. Her dedication and passion for her work were evident to all who worked alongside her. 

 

Beyond her professional accomplishments, Candi had a vibrant and creative spirit. She possessed a remarkable talent for crafting beautiful creations with her hands. She could bring any vision to life. Nature held a special place in Candi's heart. She found solace in landscaping and gardening, spending countless hours tending to her plants and transforming outdoor spaces into serene retreats. Candi wasn't afraid getting down on her hands and knees and "playing" in the dirt. Candi eagerly anticipated hosting family gatherings. Her culinary skills were legendary, with tacos and Eclair cakes being her specialties. 

 

 

She leaves behind a loving family who will always carry her in their hearts. Candi is survived by her father and mother, Emilio and Linda (Massie) McVey; son Daniel Desmond; her siblings Oscar (Janice) McVey, Therese (Jay) Reckley, Steve Thatcher, and Jason (Amy) McVey; as well as many nieces and nephews.

 

Candi was preceded in death by her paternal grandparents, Jose and Victoria McVey, maternal grandparents, Harold and Stella Massie, her brother, Jimmy McVey, and her beloved dog, Lilly. 

 

 

Visitation will be held Friday, September 22nd from 5:00 to 8:00 pm at the Weigel Funeral Home in Swanton.

 

Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
