Carol Ruth Zawodni

Carol Ruth Zawodni, age 81, of Swanton, Ohio, passed away peacefully and was reunited with her beloved husband, Leo, Tuesday, October 31, 2017, at the Swanton Health Care & Retirement Center. She was born December 4, 1935 in Toledo, Ohio to the late Ivie and Ruth (Speas) Jones. Carol was a graduate of Devilbiss High School and married Leo Zawodni, Jr. on October 8, 1955. He preceded her in death on September 15, 2010.

Carol was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She spent all her time with her husband, Leo, who was an active parishioner at the former St. Agnes Catholic Parish in Toledo. Together they enjoyed boating and fishing on Lake Erie.

Left to cherish her memory are her children, Dennis Zawodni (Fiancee' Debra Cretton), Deborah (Larry) Brashear and Dan (Teresa) Zawodni; grandchildren, Nicholas (Christina) Brashear, Alicia (Brad) Young, Patricia (David) Veres, Christina (Michael) Lambert, Samantha (Jon) Otting, and Zack, Zeth and Zoie Zawodni; great-grandchildren, Violet, Doren, Kira, Lillian, Abigail, Maxwell and Lucas; brothers, William (Donna) Jones and James Jones; sisters-in-law, Annette Gillman and Mickey Alexander; and several nieces and nephews.

Besides her husband of 55 years Leo, Carol was preceded in death by her parents; and infant granddaughter, Heaven Leigh.

Family and friends may visit Friday, November 3rd from 2 to 6:30 p.m. at the Weigel Funeral Home in Swanton, Ohio (419.826.2631). Funeral services will be held Saturday, November 4th at 3:30 p.m. in the funeral home with Pastor Donna Stutzman officiating. Interment will follow at St. Richard's Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association or Great Lakes Hospice.
