Carolyn M. Hilton

Carolyn M. (Scherzer) Hilton, passed into eternal paradise peacefully and unexpectedly in her sleep, Tuesday, March 14, 2017 at home. She was 85. She was born July 11, 1931 to John and Fannie (Baumann) Scherzer in Raabs Corners, Swanton, Ohio, where Carolyn lived her entire life. On September 12, 1953, she married Earl "Stan" Hilton, Jr. at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. They were married 48 years and enjoyed seeing much of the country, including Hawaii, Alaska and the beaches of Florida. They spent winters in Ruskin, Florida. They were very proud of their children and grandchildren, and Carolyn was most proud and happy to be blessed with 3 great-grandchildren within the past 6 months, with another on the way.

Carolyn was a devoted and lifelong member of Immaculate Conception and Holy Trinity Catholic Church. She loved her yard and flower gardening, watching the birds, and riding her bike well into her 80's. Carolyn retired from Toledo Hospital, 8N Psych, in 1986, where was a unit clerk.

Carolyn was preceded in death by her husband, Stan; son, Larry; and brothers, Dick, Tom and Michael Scherzer.

She will be missed by many, especially her children, Marla (Mark) Mears, Jan (Kevin) Stong, John (Christy) Hilton and Tony (Maria) Hilton; daughter-in-law, Debbie Hilton; brothers, Don (Mary Ellen) and Roy (Rosemarie) Scherzer; sister-in-law, Thelma Scherzer; grandchildren, Matt, Brian (Jessica), and Ali Mears, Dan (Allie) Stong, Leslie (Bob) Beemer, Kristi (Colin) Freeman, Paul (Lisa) Hilton, Dan Hilton, Heidi (Brandon) Truckor, Heather (Garrett) Poorman and Travis Hilton; great-grandchildren, twins Bo and Brynn Beemer, Graham Poorman, and a baby boy due in August. She will also be missed by her very special buddy, Tom Yackee.

Visitation will be held Saturday, March 18th from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at Holy Trinity (Immaculate Conception) Catholic Church at Marygrove, 1750 N. Raab Road, where a Mass of Resurrection will begin at 11:00 a.m., with Father Michael Dandurand presiding. Interment will follow at Marygrove Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Holy Trinity for the care of Immaculate Conception Church.

Mass of Resurrection: Saturday, March 18th at 11:00 am in the Church
