Clayton A. Franklin, Jr., age 86, of Toledo, Ohio; formerly of Swanton, passed away peacefully Friday afternoon, September 4, 2026, at Hospice of Northwest Ohio in Perrysburg. He was born on March 23, 1940, in Toledo, Ohio, to Clayton A. Sr. and Velma Franklin.
Clayton served his country in the United States Army and was stationed at Fort Hood, Texas. On June 5, 1971, he married his beloved wife, Patricia Hayden. They shared 52 years of marriage and built a life filled with love and companionship. Together, Clayton and Patricia enjoyed fishing and camping trips, making many treasured memories along the way.
Clayton worked as a setup supervisor at Doehler-Jarvis until his retirement. He was known as a hardworking man who also made time for the things he loved most. Besides fishing and camping, Clayton enjoyed hunting and was an avid Ohio State Buckeyes fan. He also took great pride in being a grandpa, a role that brought him much happiness.
Clayton is survived by his sons, Clayton III (Jill) Franklin, Randy (Lynn) Franklin, and Danny Franklin (Melissa); 31 grandchildren and great-grandchildren; his sister and brother-in-law, Gene Hayden and Mitchell Tonoff, along with many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Patricia; his sisters, Dianne Munger and Sandy Myers; his sisters-in-law, Carol Hayden and Sharon Tonoff; brothers-in-law, Donald Hayden and Richard Hayden; and his great-grandchild, Jamie.
