Clyde Roscoe Sheperd, Jr.

Clyde Roscoe Sheperd, Jr., age 80, of Swanton, Ohio, was reunited with his beloved wife, Mary Ellen, Sunday morning April 21, 2024.  Clyde was born October 3, 1943 in Bowling Green, Ohio to Clyde Roscoe Sr. and Viola Ann Christen Sheperd. Clyde was a 1961 graduate of Otsego High School and attended Davis Junior College.  He enlisted in the United States Air Force and served as a Fire Protection Specialist in the 838th Civil Engineering Squadron.  Clyde married the love of his life, Mary Ellen Owen on November 30, 1985.  She preceded him in death on December 4, 2021.

Clyde worked as a supervisor for Midwest Stamping. He enjoyed building and racing race cars.  He and his wife were very involved with the Fulton County 4-H.  They were active with Horse Hogs, and  even donated their horse “Bess” to 4-H.  Clyde and Mary Ellen loved traveling to warmer climates during the winter months, especially Florida and Georgia. Most of all, Clyde loved spending time with his family.

Clyde is survived by his children, Shelly (Ray) Jackson, Rob (Shelly) Mitchell, Cyndy (Joey) Ulreich, Pam (Brian) Braley, Sally (Ken, Jr.) Ludeman; 12 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; 3 great-great-grandchildren; brothers, Bill (Candy) Sheperd, Dan (Janice) Sheperd, John (Laura) Sheperd and Wayne (Shirley) Sheperd, sisters-in-law, Sandra (Wayne) Tinkle, Gloria (Gary) Sigurdson and Laura Ellinwood his pets, Tinker and Lilly; and so many others who considered him “dad”, “grandpa” or “uncle”.

Besides his beloved wife, Mary, Clyde was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Joyce Fouts and nephews, Jonathon Sheperd and Jamie Sheperd.

Visitation will be held on Friday, April 26th from 3 to 7 p.m. at the Weigel Funeral Home in Swanton, where services will begin at 7:00 p.m. and conclude with Military Honors.
