Constance "Connie" Toland

Constance Ann Toland, age 75, of Maumee, Ohio, and formerly of Columbus, Ohio, passed away Wednesday morning, July 26, 2023, at Elizabeth Scott Community, following a 10-year battle with Alzheimer's disease. She was born April 28, 1948, to the late Ralph and Rosie (Mossing) Toland. Connie was a graduate of Swanton High School. She achieved her bachelor’s degree from Bowling Green State University, and her master’s degree from the University of Toledo.

Over the span of more than two decades, Connie lived and worked on the northwest side of Columbus. She proudly served as a school guidance counselor for Marysville High School – where she later retired. She was a devout member of St. Brendan Catholic Church in Hilliard where she often donated her time, talent and treasure, and was a fixture in the church praying the Rosary with fellow parishioners.

She held many relationships close to her heart, including her Columbus family which included her Tuesday dinner group, numerous friends, and co-workers. Even when Connie’s disease took strong hold later in life, her friends always remained in touch.

Many of her nieces and nephews will especially remember the magical summers spent with their Aunt Connie. For years, she would spoil them with an amazing week to remember through exciting adventures to the Columbus Zoo, Wyandotte Lake, Olentangy Caverns, Hocking Hills, and even searched for gold, to name a few.

Wherever she went, Connie had her canine companion with her. For years her dog Scooter would accompany her to the store, to family events, and even to work every day. Her dogs Scooter and Amos lived a life of luxury and her devotion to them was just one example of her heart of gold.

Connie is survived by her siblings, Tim (Lori) Toland, Jamey Toland, J.R. (Beth) Toland and nieces and nephews, J.J., Brook, Jordan, Nikki, Troy, Halli, Scottie, Abbie and Erin.

Contributions can be made to St. Brendan Catholic Church in Hilliard and The Alzheimer’s Association. A Memorial Mass will be held at St. Richards Catholic Church in Swanton, on Thursday, August 10^th at 11:00 am, with Fr. Eric Culler presiding.
