Daniel Charles Ott, age 67, of Swanton, Ohio, passed away Friday morning, November 3, 2023 in his home surrounded by his loving family. He was born August 4, 1956, in Toledo, Ohio to Karl and Rosemary (Smith) Ott. Daniel was a 1974 graduate of Evergreen High School, he married the love of his life, Roxanne "Rocky" Ingram on August 19, 1994.
Daniel was a mechanical genius. He started as a mechanic on the Ott family farm and then worked his entire career as an operating engineer, then an instructor at Ohio Operating Engineers until his retirement. He was an avid Harley Davidson rider and mechanic, he also collected Harley's and had over 20 bikes in his collection. Daniel was a former member of Travelers M.C. and Centurions M.C. and a longtime member of The Antique Motorcycle Club of America. He was well known for making his own hot pepper seasoning which he named "Hott Dirt". Most of all, he loved his family and had a special connection with all of his grandkids.
Daniel is survived by his wife of 29 years, Roxanne "Rocky" Ott; daughters, Danielle Ott and Bailey (James) Shuster; son, Tary (Barbora) Huffman; siblings, Jane (Dan Bain) Green, Beverly Apel, Martin (Rebecca) Ott, Edward (Laura) Ott and Sara (Kevin) Dietsch; grandchildren, Carter Ott, Cassaundra Ott, Arlee Burkeen, Jackson Burkeen, Salem Shuster, Madison Shuster, Alex Huffman and Barbora Huffman, Jr.
Daniel was preceded in death by his parents; Karl and Rosemary Ott, his son; Travis Ott, and brother; William Ott.
Visitation will be held Friday, November 10th from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm at the Weigel Funeral Home in Swanton, with a memorial service immediately following at 4:00 pm. Family and friends are invited for a gathering at our home on Old State Line Road from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m.
