David Lee Shoup

David Lee Shoup, age 60, of Swanton, Ohio passed away peacefully on Thursday, June 17th, 2021 with his wife at his side. He was born in Toledo, Ohio to Harold Lawrence Shoup, Sr. and Margurite Magdeline (Hughes) Shoup on August 12th, 1960. David was a 1979 graduate of Anthony Wayne High School. After High School, David married his sweetheart Elizabeth (Szczepanski) on August 28th, 1981 at Oak Openings Metropark, on beautiful Mallard Lake.

David was a kind, creative, and caring man that was well known for his contagious laughter and willingness to help others. He found great joy in exploring the back woods, hunting, camping, listening to music, and especially in fishing.

David would always brighten a room with jokes and curious stories. He had an artist’s heart and was creative in many ways. He loved to draw, paint, and create things for the people that he loved. David’s unwavering passion for his family and friends was evident by his gracious and protective nature. His many gestures, however small or large have shaped and created a legacy of love, which will be remembered by many.

David will be missed by his loving wife of 39 years, Elizabeth; daughter, Amie (Tim, Jr.) Lewis; son Zachary (Alexis) Shoup; siblings, Barbara Sowa, Harold (Lynn) Shoup, Jr., Linda (Richard) Metcalf, Mary (Russell) Lundy, William (Lynn) Shoup, Patti (Alan) DeLelles, John (LeaAnne) Shoup, Laura Shoup, Betty (Eric) Lewis; grandchildren, Ava and Abbie Lewis, Charlotte and Owen Shoup.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Visitation will be held on Monday, June 21st from 3:00 to 7:00 PM at Weigel Funeral Home, Swanton, Ohio. Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday, June 22nd at 11:00 AM at the funeral home with William Shoup officiating. Interment will follow at Mt. Pleasant Cemetery, Grand Rapids, Ohio.
