Dean Wesley Baumbarger

Dean W. Baumbarger, age, 78, of Swanton, Ohio, passed away Thursday, August 20, 2026 at his home. He was born on November 26, 1947 at Riverside Hospital in Toledo, Ohio to Wilbur Dean and Opal Marguerite (Longnecker) Baumbarger.

After graduating from Anthony Wayne High School in 1966, he answered the call to serve his country with pride. Dean served in the United States Navy during the Vietnam War. Following his honorable service, he began a career in carpentry. For over 30 years, he owned Dean Builders. On March 5, 1991, dean married the love of his life, Brenda Gillin, sharing a bond that lasted more than 35 years.

Outside of work and family, Dean loved being in the great outdoors, weather it was riding his motorcycle, camping, hunting and especially fishing, that is where he found peace. He loved nature and was a long time member of Duck's Unlimited.

Dean is survived by his wife of 35 years, Brenda; children, Tina (Ken) Scheuerman, Chad (Stacie) Baumbarger and Marc Baumbarger; brother, David (Ruth Ann) Baumbarger; grandchildren, Averi, Parker, Hila and Leona; his sister-in-law, Betty Baumbarger, as well as many nieces and nephews.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Denny and Donald Baumbarger.

Visitation will be held, Tuesday, August 25, 2026 from 3:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Weigel Funeral Home in Swanton followed by funeral services at 7:00 PM, with Pastor Chris Baney officiating.
