Dennis R. Gillis

Dennis R. Gillis, age 59 of Swanton, Ohio, passed away peacefully in his home Thursday morning, November 2, 2017. He was born March 13, 1958 in Toledo, Ohio to Albert Gillis and Shirley (Winkelman) Jordan. Dennis served in the US Army for the 101st Airborne.

Dennis was a jack of all trades, that loved to race model boats and helicopters. He enjoyed riding his Harley Davidson, and most of all spending time with his grandchildren.

He is survived by his loving children, Joshua (Angie) Gillis, Tiffany (fiancé Eric Buerke) Gillis, Kelsey Gillis; grandchildren, Kyiah, Olivia, Jalynn, Kayden, Benjamin, Adrianna, A.J., and Georgia; mother, Shirley Jordan; sisters, Tina Underwood-Fletcher, Stephanie (Donald) Hanna, Tracey Jordan, Kelley Thomas Jordan; and Special Friend, Sheila Whitacre.

Dennis was preceded in death by his step-father, Horace Jordan.

Family and friends may visit Sunday, November 5, 2017 from 2 to 8 pm at the Weigel Funeral Home in Swanton (419.826.2631). Funeral services will be held Monday, November 6th at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home, with Rev. Donna Stutzman officiating. Interment will follow at Swanton Cemetery.

Memorial contributions many be made to the American Cancer Society.
