Donald Louis Kaczmarek

August 22, 1938 — June 11, 2023

Tecumseh

Donald Louis Kaczmarek was a beloved husband, father, grandfather (Poppy), and great-grandfather, and his life was filled with remarkable experiences and profound connections. Don was born on August 22, 1938, in Glencoe, Minnesota, and he passed away peacefully on June 11, 2023, surrounded by his family.

Don was known for his remarkable skills as a handyman. He had a natural talent for fixing things and was always willing to share his knowledge with others. Teaching others and empowering them to become more self-sufficient brought him great joy.

Education was also important to Don. He attended the University of Minnesota before transferring to the University of North Dakota, where he played college football and studied to become a schoolteacher.

Don had a passion for volunteering and helping others. He served as a Volunteer Firefighter with the Metamora Amboy Fire Department, dedicating his time to serve his community in times of need bravely. He also volunteered with organizations such as the Cherry Street Mission, Cleveland Site Center, and the Evergreen Athletic Boosters, inspiring those around him with his commitment to making a difference.

Football played a significant role in Don's life. He played professional football in Canada for the Winnipeg Blue Bombers before being drafted by the Rams in 1962. Even after his professional career, Don continued supporting and inspiring young athletes through Evergreen High School coaching.

Donald Kaczmarek is survived by his loving wife, Brenda Kaczmarek, and their six children: Kirk Kaczmarek, Robin Kaczmarek, Donald (DJ) Kaczmarek, Jason Taylor (Kari Taylor), Staciee Drinkwater (Gary Drinkwater), and Wendy Rhoda. He is also survived by 14 grandchildren and soon-to-be 17 great-grandchildren. His family and those fortunate to have known him will deeply miss him.

Visitation will be held Wednesday, June 14th from 4:00 to 6:00 pm at the Weigel Funeral Home in Metamora, where a Memorial Service will begin at 6:00 pm, with Pastor Aden Porter officiating.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks for donations to be made to The Metamora Amboy Fire Department or the Evergreen Athletic Boosters in Don's name.

May the memory of Donald Louis Kaczmarek forever inspire us to embrace our talents, educate others, love deeply, and serve our communities with love and dedication.

Rest in peace, Don Kaczmarek.
