Doris Ann (Thomas) Culler

Doris Ann Culler, age 90, a lifelong resident of Swanton, Ohio, and formerly of the Elizabeth Scott Community in Maumee, passed away Wednesday morning, February 11, 2026.  She was born on April 19, 1935 in Neapolis, Ohio to the late Lawrence "Deak" and Garnet J. (Foor) Thomas.  She married Lewis Culler on August 25, 1956, who preceded her in death on May 15, 2024.  

Doris was a proud 1953 graduate of Anthony Wayne High School and went to work at The Toledo Edison, until her marriage.  Doris was a homemaker and member of the Swanton Christian Alliance Church, where she taught Sunday School for many years.  Doris enjoyed working in her flower gardens and planting a large vegetable garden every year on the family farm. She loved to cook and can for her family, and was proud and dedicated to providing annual hot turkey sandwiches to the Swanton American Legion Post attendees following the Memorial Day celebration.  Doris enjoyed reading The Toledo Blade, working on word searches, writing poems and tending to her many dogs over the years.

Doris is survived by her children: Dorian (Ron) Gorney of Punta Gorda, FL, Eric Culler of Swanton, OH, Joselyn (Paul) Conrad of Metamora, OH, Gay (Dennis) Barker of Hudson, MI and Marcene (Curt) Smith of Metamora, OH; 6 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren; as well as many nieces, nephews, special cousins and friends.

Besides her husband of 67 years, Lewis, Doris was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Barbara Patrick of Ft. Wayne, IN and brother, Marvin Thomas of San Diego, CA.

Visitation will be held Thursday, February 19th from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm at the Weigel Funeral Home in Swanton, where funeral services will begin at 12:00 (Noon). Interment will follow at Swanton Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Fulton County Humane Society.
