Dorothy R. Cash

After a brief illness, Dorothy passed away on Saturday, May 14, 2016, with her daughters at her side, at Heartland of Waterville. Born February 12, 1913 to Minnie and Abraham Geha; she grew up in Toledo as one of seven children. She graduated from Central Catholic High in 1932. In 1945 she married Frederick Cash of Metamora.

Her greatest joy was her family. She was a loving mother and doting grandmother and great-grandmother. Dorothy worked for Sears for 20 years and was a long time Red Cross volunteer. As a parishioner of St. Mary’s/Holy Trinity church for over 70 years, she was a member of the Altar Rosary Society. She enjoyed gatherings with her many nieces and nephews and as an avid Pinochle player looked forward to her neighborhood card club

She was preceded in death by her husband, Fred, her parents and her siblings, Charles Geha, Adele Williams, Beulah Macron, Emmeline Brinkman, Helen Grabarczyk and Henry Geha.

She is survived by her daughters Dorothy (Ed) Schoonmaker and Sandra LaPlante, her granddaughters, Shelby (Josh) McDaniels and Lindsay (Brian) Oatis and her five great-grandchildren. We would like to thank her many friends and neighbors who supported her, especially Judy Patek who was her guardian angel.

Visitation will be held Wednesday, May 18th from 3 to 8 p.m. at the Weigel Funeral Home in Metamora, where the Rosary will be recited at 7:30 p.m. A Mass of Resurrection will be held Thursday, May 19th at 11:00 a.m. at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Assumption, with Fr. Michael Dandurand presiding. Interment will follow at Amboy Township Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the American Heart Association.

Mass of Resurrection: Thursday, May 19th at 11:00 am at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Assumption
