Dorothy Fern Hayden

Dorothy F. Hayden, age 88, long time resident of Swanton, Ohio passed away peacefully at Danbury Assisted Living, Columbus, Ohio on May 14, 2022. She was born October 16, 1933, in Berkey, Ohio to the late Jay and Mary Barnes Tredway and graduated from Metamora High School. On January 2, 1954, Dorothy married her high school sweetheart Robert. Together they raised three children.

Dorothy is remembered as a loving mother who never missed the opportunity to be involved in and attend her children’s activities. She valued quality time with her family including family vacations in northern Michigan as well as annual reunions with her sisters and their families. Other lifelong pastimes included arts and music; she played the trombone in high school and the hand bells at Trinity United Methodist Church, was active in a SquareDancing group with Robert, and thoroughly enjoyed attending art events with Trinity’s Young and the Restless group in her later years. Dorothy was also a talented seamstress and enjoyed working with Trinity church members in their quilting group.

In addition to her parents, Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband of 45 years, Robert Hayden, and sisters Irene Ricker, Joyce Seigneur, and Lorraine Harper. Survivors include her children, Deborah, Mike (Mary), and Steve Hayden; grandchildren, Heather (Ben) McNabb, Kara, Jason (Jen), Benjamin, and Michelle Bowman, Valerie and Jessica Hayden, and Stephanie Hayden (Nicholas Ceparski); great-grandchildren, Anna and Logan McNabb, Phoebe Bowman, Isaac Parke, and Adelaide and Hayden Ceparski.

A graveside service will be held, Saturday, June 25th at 12:00 noon at the Amboy Township Cemetery with Pastor Justin McCall officiating.
