Duane D. "Trapper" Hagerman

March 7, 1956 — August 25, 2022

Duane D. “Trapper” Hagerman, age 66, suffered a massive heart attack to which he succumbed on August 25, 2022, at St. Luke’s Hospital, Maumee, Ohio. Duane was born on March 7, 1956, to Edith (Bell) and Donald “Hank” Hagerman. He was a 1975 graduate of Swanton High School and continued residing in the Swanton area all his life.

As a youngster, he was blessed with bright red hair and loved to tell tall tales. He developed a propensity for trapping muskrats and other furry critters to sell their pelts. From this activity, he dubbed himself “Trapper” as his CB handle and the nickname stuck with him for the rest of his days. Hardly anyone knew his given name.

Duane was an independent, self-reliant kind of guy who lived life his way. He was a self-employed landscaper. Duane was the proud owner of H&H Snow Plowing & Services.

On Tuesday, August 25, 2022, a beautiful mild and sunny autumn morning, and as a soft breeze blew leaves throught the air, Duane was laid to rest in Swanton Township Cemetery, Swanton, Ohio, alongside his beloved parents. Red Roses were laid on top of his grave, along with a marker bearing his picture and name.
