Effie Pearl Owen, age 95, of Swanton, Ohio, passed away unexpectedly, Tuesday morning, April 5, 2016, in Corbin, Kentucky, as she was returning from Georgia where she had been wintering with her daughter and son-in-law. Pearl was born June 23, 1920, in Buchtel, Ohio to William C. and Edna Grace (Vess) Dixon. She married Cleadus Owen and he preceded her in death.
Pearl was a homemaker, raising her five daughters. In her early years, she enjoyed going to the casinos and betting on horses. She loved crocheting and working crossword puzzles and spending time with her family.
She will be greatly missed by her loving and devoted daughters, Mary Ellen (Clyde) Sheperd; Sandra (Arthur) Tinkle, Gloria (Gary) Sigurdson, and Laura Ellinwood; 17 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren; 26 great-great-grandchildren; sister, Irene Whitkovic; and son-in-law, Ed Griesinger.
Pearl was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Cleadus; daughter, JoAnn Griesinger; and 7 siblings.
Family and friends may visit Sunday, April 10th from 2 to 8 p.m. at the Weigel Funeral Home in Swanton. Funeral services will be held Monday, April 11th at 11:00 a.m. in the funeral home. Interment will follow at Ottawa Hills Memorial Park.
