Eldon G. Dickmann, age 81, of Swanton, Ohio, passed away peacefully, Tuesday morning, March 14, 2023, at Ebeid Hospice in Sylvania. Eldon was born October 5, 1941 in Liberty Township, Ohio to Louis and Amelia (Kruse) Dickmann. Eldon was a graduate of Liberty Center High School, class of ’59. He attended the University of Toledo for 2 years. On July 22, 1972, he married Marie Ann Pawlaczyk.
Eldon worked for Tenneco Corp. in Napoleon for 43 years, retiring in 2008. Eldon worked hard and lived hard. His yard was his pride and joy, and his friends and neighbors would often find him in his garage at his work bench repairing and tinkering with an assortment of projects.
Eldon was an avid OSU fan, and will be remembered for being a very generous man and a good story teller. He was a member of Faith Evangelical Lutheran Church, Swanton American Legion Post #479, Swanton VFW, Delta Fraternal Order of Eagles, Napoleon Moose Lodge and Swanton Elks. Eldon loved playing a good round of golf at Valleywood and going out to eat at Loma Linda’s. He was known to join in the singing with his boisterous voice for patron’s celebrating their birthday, whether he knew them or not.
Eldon will be greatly missed by his beloved wife of 50 years, Marie; children, Brad (Carolyn) Dickmann, Brenda Cope and Brian (Molly) Dickmann; stepson, Mark (Debbie) Kuhn; stepdaughter, Susan Kuhn; 8 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren; 5 step-grandchildren; 9 step-great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Eldon was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Donald and Marvin Dickmann and stepson, Timothy Kuhn.
Visitation will be held Monday, March 20th from 10 am to 12 pm (Noon) at Faith Evangelical Lutheran Church, where funeral services will begin at 12:00 (Noon), with Pastor Dalton Rosa Ruggieri officiating.
