Eleanor E. Taylor

Eleanor E. Taylor, age 93, of Berkey, Ohio, passed away peacefully, Tuesday evening, February 9, 2021, at The Lakes of Sylvania. She was born on July 7, 1927 in Toledo, Ohio to Martin and Sadie (Goeller) Michelsen. Eleanor was graduate of Burnham High School in Sylvania, and was a 1948 graduate of The Toledo Hospital School of Nursing.  She married the love of her life, John "Jack" Taylor, on December 28, 1948.

Eleanor worked as a Nursery and NICU RN for 31 years. She cared for many babies and comforted families during their stay at the hospital. She clearly had a love and special spot in her heart for children. John and Eleanor had five beautiful children of their own. She was also incredibly involved with her community. Eleanor volunteered for the Red Cross and as a mentor in the elementary school.  She was highly active in her church community as well, serving as president of Women’s Society, Defiance District Officer, and West Ohio Conference of the United Methodist Church. Eleanor sang in the choir and was Trustee. In her free time, she enjoyed reading a good book and watching movies.  Eleanor always took the time to write letters and cards to family and friends.  She especially always made time for her family, and looked forward to family gatherings and dinners.

Eleanor will be greatly missed by her children; Sharon (James) Evarts, Richard Taylor and Barbara Taylor; daughter-in-law, Marlene (Mike) Zientek; grandchildren, Christine (John) Stierly and Beth (Ryan) Babcock, Scott Taylor, Ben Taylor and Abby (Aaron) Schroll; and 7 great-grandchildren.

Eleanor was preceded in death by her husband, John; sons David Taylor and Thomas Taylor, and granddaughters, Lisa Taylor and Korene Taylor; brother Doyle Michelsen, and daughter-in-law Balinda Taylor.

Visitation will be held Sunday, February 14th at 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. at the Weigel Funeral Home in Metamora, where funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. with Pastor Tyler Kleeberger officiating. Interment will follow at Wolfinger Cemetery.
