Eleanor E. Taylor, age 93, of Berkey, Ohio, passed away peacefully, Tuesday evening, February 9, 2021, at The Lakes of Sylvania. She was born on July 7, 1927 in Toledo, Ohio to Martin and Sadie (Goeller) Michelsen. Eleanor worked as a Nursery and NICU RN for 31 years. She cared for many babies and comforted families during their stay at the hospital. She clearly had a love and special spot in her heart for children. John and Eleanor had five beautiful children of their own. She was also incredibly involved with her community. Eleanor volunteered for the Red Cross and as a mentor in the elementary school. She was highly active in her church community as well, serving as president of Women’s Society, Defiance District Officer, and West Ohio Conference of the United Methodist Church. Eleanor sang in the choir and was Trustee. In her free time, she enjoyed reading a good book and watching movies. Eleanor always took the time to write letters and cards to family and friends. She especially always made time for her family, and looked forward to family gatherings and dinners.
Eleanor will be greatly missed by her children; Sharon (James) Evarts, Richard Taylor and Barbara Taylor; daughter-in-law, Marlene (Mike) Zientek; grandchildren, Christine (John) Stierly and Beth (Ryan) Babcock, Scott Taylor, Ben Taylor and Abby (Aaron) Schroll; and 7 great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be held Sunday, February 14th at 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. at the Weigel Funeral Home in Metamora, where funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. with Pastor Tyler Kleeberger officiating. Interment will follow at Wolfinger Cemetery.

Eleanor was such a help to us when we had baby in ICU years ago. Have never forgotten her kindness. May your Mother rest in peace!

So many good memories of when we rented from your folks. I had never seen a tick, found one on toddler Betsy, she told me how to deal with it. Betsy remembers her smile and how Grandpa Taylor would wiggle his ears. And the three older ones remember you kids coming up the road, their being placed in the wood reel and getting pushed around the yard. Dave remembers being in a hay mow with you kids, he was three. Because I haven't received my antivirus shots yet I remain home, Hugs to Sharon and Rick

What an honor it was to have worked with "Mrs.Taylor" in the NICU. She was a dedicated, compassionate, great nurse. She took great care of the babies, their families and us younger nurses! She was our "work Mom". We were very fortunate to have her as a mentor and of course to laugh with - oh that sweet sense of humor! Her kindness, grace and gentle soul were admirable and cherished. I am so sorry for your loss.

I had the privilege of working with "Mrs. Taylor," as we called her, in the NICU for many years. She was an outstanding nurse. Mrs. Taylor was very much a team player and the nurses, babies and families were blessed by her. She was a joy to be around. I am sorry for your loss...

I wish I had the opportunity to meet Eleanor personally but I only knew this beautiful person through her family. From what I have learned about her and know of her daughter and grandaughters, Eleanor has passed down her love of others, compassion, wit, and goodness. Her legacy will live on in her wonderful children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. My deepest sympathy to your family and all whose lives she touched. Heaven has another angel. Love and Hugs from AZ.
