Faye L. Rohrig

Faye L. (Witt) Rohrig, age 94, of Swanton, Ohio, passed away peacefully Thursday morning, September 24, 2015, at the Elizabeth Scott Community in Maumee, Ohio. She was born May 20, 1921 in Lovington, Illinois to William and Jennie (Dashiell) Leach.

She married Rev. Roy S. Witt on January 10, 1946 in Milwaukee, WI. Together they pastored churches in Southeastern Kentucky, Central Illinois and Brailey Union Church in Swanton. Rev. Witt preceded her in death in 1974. On June 3, 1982, Faye married Herman Rohrig in Swanton and moved to his home in Orient, Iowa. He preceded her in death in 1990 and she returned to live in Swanton.

Faye attended St. Paul Bible College in St. Paul, Minnesota and throughout her adult life was active in Child Evangelism Fellowship, Christian Women's Clubs and numerous church and home Bible studies.

In her early fifties, she picked up a paint brush, becoming an accomplished artist of oil paintings.

Faye is survived by her daughter, Gail (Lon) Washtak of Maumee, OH; daughter, Jayne (Marvin) Hoffman of Harrisburg, PA; son, William (Beth) Witt of Swanton, OH; daughter, Karen (Mike) Kelley of Chugwater, WY; step-daughter, Dorothy (John) Evans of Billings, MT; step-son, Norman (Cathy) Rohrig of Richland, WA; step-daughter, Cheryl Rohrig of Spokane, WA; step-son, Brian (Kathy) Rohrig of Orient, IA; 20 grandchildren; 34 great-grandchildren; and 1 great-great-grandchild.

Family and friends may visit Saturday, October 3rd from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at the Weigel Funeral Home, 204 Chestnut St. in Swanton (419.826.2631). Funeral services will begin at 11:00 a.m. with her son-in-law, Rev. Marvin Hoffman presiding. Interment will follow at Swanton Cemetery.

Memorial contributions in her memory may be made to a charity of the donor's choice.
