Florence A. Ruple

Florence A. Ruple, age 83, of Swanton, Ohio, entered into eternal life peacefully from her home, Monday morning, August 29, 2016. Flossie, as she was known by her family and friends, was born September 12, 1932 in Metamora, Ohio to Leo and Veronica (Snyder) Schmitz. She was a graduate of St. Mary's School in Assumption and married Frank Ruple, with whom she shared 50 years of marriage prior to his death in 2001.

Flossie was a loving mother who enjoyed camping, canoeing and bicycling trips with Frank and their children. As empty nesters, she and Frank spent weekends traveling to fairs, festivals and stunt kite flying events throughout Ohio, Michigan and Indiana.

Flossie worked at the Church Women United Thrift Shop for over 30 years. She was a devoted Catholic and member of St. Richard Catholic Parish and the Rosary-Altar Society, where she volunteered her time making Rosaries and working funeral luncheons.

Flossie will be greatly missed by her children, Eric (Linda) Ruple, Lynn (Jennifer) Ruple, Tracy Ruple, Aaron Ruple; nephew, Ed (Jane) Miller; grandchildren, Erica (Travis) Shultz, Sarah Ruple, Mark Ruple, Josh Ruple, Ashley Ruple and April Leady; great-grandchildren, Landen, Averie Brinnah and Kalynn; brother, Bill (Mona) Schmitz; sister, Camilla Cleghorn; sister-in-law, Lois Schmitz; as well as several nieces and nephews.

Besides her husband, Frank, Flossie was preceded in death by her parents; son, Mark Ruple; and siblings, Jean Prescott, Sonny Schmitz, Ralph Schmitz, Tom Schmitz, Susann Hubbell and Patricia Willson.

Family and friends may visit Thursday, September 1st from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the Weigel Funeral Home in Swanton (419.826.2631), where a Vigil Service will be held at 6:30 p.m. Prayers will begin in the funeral home on Friday, September 2nd at 10:30 a.m., followed by a Mass of Resurrection at 11:00 a.m. at St. Richard Catholic Church with Fr. Adam Hertzfeld presiding and Deacon Jerry Ziemkiewicz assisting. Interment will follow at St. Mary's Cemetery in Assumption.

Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Northwest Ohio.
