Gary Allan Coon

Gary Allan Coon, age 59, of Sylvania, formerly of Swanton, Ohio, passed away peacefully, Thursday evening, November 10, 2016, at Ebeid Hospice in Sylvania. He was born on November 3, 1957 in Toledo, Ohio to Floyd and Beverly (Ford) Coon. Gary served in the US Army.

He worked for the the Ohio Turnpike Commission, retiring in 2007. Gary was very active in the Union while working at the Turnpike. He was a past Boy Scout leader and baseball coach for his son, Robert. Gary enjoyed woodworking, but his greatest joy was spending time with his grandkids.

Gary will be greatly missed by his loving children, Robert Coon and Tonya (Michael) Sherard; grandchildren, Ryan and Mackenzie Coon, and Janay, Kyleigh, and Madison Sherard; siblings, Debra Coon, Marc Coon, Nancy (Thomas) von Stein, and honorary sister, Judy Hawkins; nieces and nephews, Ben, Jacob, Chasady, Keith, Brittany, Kimberly, and James; and 7 great-nieces and nephews.

Gary was preceded in death by his parents; and brother Paul Coon.

Family and friends may visit Tuesday, November 15th from 2 to 8 p.m. at the Weigel Funeral Home, 204 Chestnut St. in Swanton (419.826.2631), Funeral services will begin in the funeral home at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, November 16th with Pastor J.T. Bean officiating.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Wounded Warriors.

Visitation: Tuesday, November 15th from 2 to 8 pm at the Weigel Funeral Home in Swanton

Funeral Service: Wednesday, November 16th at 11:00 am in the Funeral Home

It's been a long time Gary. We enjoyed scouting together with your Scout Master Father Floyd, Brother Paul & many other scouts in our troop while we were in school at Swanton.
