George A. Scheid

George Albert “Pat” Scheid
Pat passed away peacefully at the age of 90 on December 31, 2023, in the Swanton Valley Rehabilitation and Healthcare Center in Swanton, OH. Pat was born on St. Patrick’s Day – March 17, 1933 – in Norwalk Memorial Hospital to William F. and Naomi M. (Burden) Scheid. He graduated as Salutatorian of the Monroeville High School class of 1951. 

Pat served in the U.S. Army from 1953 – 1955 and was a member of the 6th Army Honor Guard (1954 – 1955).
He graduated from Bowling Green State University in February 1958 with a major in accounting. He was a member of Alpha Tau Omega fraternity. During his junior year, he was selected by TV star Jayne Meadows as Bowling Green University’s “Key” King.
Pat spent most of his career as a Certified Public Accountant, retiring in August 2002.

Pat was a member of the First Faith Community Church (Sandusky), and the Solomon Lutheran Church (Woodville). He was a Life Member of Kiwanis International in Sandusky and Genoa and was past Ohio District Secretary. Pat was also a Life Member of the American Legion (Post 83 - Sandusky, Post 324 - Genoa), Amvets (Post 17 - Sandusky), and a 50+ year Mason (Roby Lodge #534 - Monroeville). He also found time to serve as a volunteer for Meals on Wheels and Serving Our Seniors.

He was preceded in death by his parents, sister Marilyn Van Den Bossche, and brother-in-law Ronald Van Den Bossche.

Pat is survived by his wife Georgia Ann (Shoup) Scheid, sons Jeffrey A. [Michelle Wadding] (Sandusky) and David G. (Atlanta, GA), 2 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren, 2 stepdaughters Lisa (Haines) Deal [Jim] and Leslie (Haines) Power [Vince], 4 step grandchildren, 5 step great grandchildren, nephew Rick Van Den Bossche, nieces Krista O’Neill and Ronda Van Den Bossche, 4 great nephews and nieces, 1 great grandniece. 
Four former stepchildren also survive Pat: Gail (Wright) Morgan, Marta (Brasch) Miller [Tim], Lisa (Brasch) Adams, and Dr. Martin J. Brasch, and their families which include: 6 step grandchildren, 10 step great grandchildren, and 4 step great great granddaughters.

Visitation will be from 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, May 21st at the First Faith Community Church (225 E. Jefferson St., Sandusky). The memorial service will begin at 10:00 a.m.

A graveside ceremony, with Military Honors, will follow at Oakland Cemetery in Sandusky followed by a luncheon at the Sandusky American Legion (3615 Hayes Ave.).

Memorial contributions may be made to First Faith Community Church or Monroeville Public Schools.
