Hal Edwin Walter

Hal Edwin Walter, age 82, lifelong resident of Delta, Ohio, a cherished husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, passed away peacefully Friday morning, March 13, 2026, at his home in the comforting presence of his beloved wife of 65 years, Su Ann. Hal was born on June 10, 1943, in Wauseon, Ohio to Jessie and Julia (McDonnall) Walter. 

A 1961 graduate of Delta High School, Hal married his high school sweetheart, Su Ann Raker, on July 7, 1961, a union that blossomed into a lifelong partnership filled with love and mutual support.

Hal devoted many years to working as a lineman for Toledo Edison, until his retirement in 2001. Beyond his career, Hal had a lively enthusiasm for sports, both as a passionate player and as a respected referee for basketball, baseball, and volleyball. His enthusiasm for athletics extended to playing several rounds of golf and racquetball, both of which he loved.  He and Su Ann looked forward to wintering in Avon Park, Florida, soaking in the warmer seasons.

Left to cherish his memory is his beloved wife, Su Ann; his son, Ed (Lisa); his daughter, Shelby Lynn Walter, and her partner Heidi Curtis. His legacy lives on in his grandchildren, Craig Ross (Kristin) Walter and Eric Steven (Taylor) Walter;  and great-grandchildren, Emma Marie, Rayelynn Kay, Mason Ross, and Quinn Marie Walter, who brought continued happiness to his later years.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Jessie and Julia Walter; his brothers, Kenneth Walter, Earl Walter and Daryl Walter; and his brother-in-law, Gary Raker.

Family and friends may visit Monday, March 23rd from 10:00 am to 11:00 am at the Weigel Funeral Home, 400 W. Main St. in Delta, where funeral services for Hal will begin at 11:00 am, with Pastor Marianne Reimund officiating.
