Interment with Military Rites: Ogden-Zion Cemetery

Harold N. Waterbury, age 97, of Metamora, Ohio, passed away peacefully, Friday evening, May 5, 2017, lovingly supported by his family and care givers. He was born in Lenawee County Michigan to Fred and Florence (Clough) Waterbury on February 25, 1920. He graduated from Metamora High School and was drafted into the United States Army where he served during WWII.

On July 27, 1974, Harold married his loving wife, Martha Demusky. Harold was a life-long farmer and member of Faith Evangelical Lutheran Church in Metamora, where he served many roles. He was also a proud member of the Lyons VFW Post #7574.

Harold will be greatly missed by his beloved wife of 43 years, Martha; daughters, Judith Ann MacBeth of Riga, MI and Ellen (John) Vershum of Metamora, OH; stepchildren, Kathryn Walker, Walter (Kathy) Demusky and David (Carol) Demusky; stepdaughter-in-law, Marsha Demusky; step son-in-law, James Lanning; grandchildren, Kimberly (Lincoln) Geren, Stephanie (James) Shoemaker, Amy (Robert) Henning, Lynn (Jodi) Vershum, Michele (Allan) Gladieux, Susan (Bill) Pierce and Scott Vershum; 3 step-grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; as well as several nieces and nephews.

Harold was preceded in death by his parents, Fred and Florence Waterbury; brother, Floyd Waterbury; son-in-law, William MacBeth; granddaughter, Alissa Vershum; stepson, Peter Demusky; stepdaughter, Irene Lanning; and stepson-in-law, William Walker.

Thank you to the wonderful nurses and staff at Kingston at Sylvania and Hospice of Northwest Ohio for their compassionate care.

Family and friends may visit Wednesday, May 10th from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Weigel Funeral Home, 413 E. Main St. in Metamora. Funeral services will be held Thursday, May 11th at 11:00 a.m. at Faith Evangelical Lutheran Church in Metamora, with Rev. Ed Strietelmeier officiating. Interment, with Military Rites, will follow at Ogden-Zion Cemetery.
