"Aunt" Harriet was a part of my life from the beginning - we lived in Wisconsin, but Ohio was not far away. While she was not a blood relative, she was family. She and my mom, Evelyn Steudle Borshay, were in the WAVES together during WWII - they spent time together at Oklahoma A&M University (now OSU) and in Washington D.C. Aunt Harriet was always fun, had a laugh, and enjoyed her gin. I have memories of spending the night in the attic of Aver's house when I was a small child, and I remember learning about fireflies in their backyard. It was magical. My mom was devastated to hear of her passing, but remembers her with great love and joy. Our "tall" friend will be greatly missed.

I had the pleasure and honor to care for Hattie Ann! Over the years we develop a wonderful friendship we even got the Swanton Health Care best friends award! She was such a strong willed intelligent funny woman and she always made my worst days worth it! She will forever be in my heart and memory from all our imaginary walks to the legion for vodka martinis to her witty comments! I feel blessed I got to hold your hand at the end Hattie fly high my angel
