Helen Jean Brisbin

Graveside Services: Friday, October 6th at 2:30 pm at Toledo Memorial Park

Helen Jean Brisbin, age 88, of Swanton, Ohio, passed peacefully in her sleep, Saturday evening, September 30, 2017. She was born March 1, 1929 in Toledo, Ohio to the late John and Helen (Herbster) Willard. Jean was a 1947 graduate of Whitmer High School and attended the University of Toledo. On May 5, 1951, she married her beloved husband, Theron Brisbin, whom she met her senior year of High School.

Jean was a lifelong member of Reformation Lutheran Church in Toledo, 30-year member of Faith Evangelical Lutheran Church in Swanton, and was currently attending Trinity Lutheran Church in Delta. She was a lifelong member of the Junior Guild at St. Luke's Hospital and was very active in the Girl Scouts for many years.

She and the family loved camping and backpacking through the mountains well into their sixties. Jean will be remembered as an excellent seamstress making Civil War period clothing for several years, as well as knitting. She was also an excellent cook and pie baker, as well as an avid reader.

Jean will be greatly missed by her loving husband of 66 years, Theron; daughter, Debbie Gring of Toledo, OH; son, David (Tina) Brisbin of Findlay, OH; grandchildren, Matthew (Maria) Gring, Sam Brisbin and Eliza Brisbin.

Jean was preceded in death by her parents; infant son, Timothy John Brisbin and her brother, John Willard.

Visitation will be held Thursday, October 5th, from 3 to 8 p.m. at the Weigel Funeral Home, 204 Chestnut St. in Swanton. Funeral Services will be held Friday, October 6th at 10:30 a.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church, 410 Taylor St. in Delta, where visitation will be one hour prior. Rev. Ed Strietelmeier will officiate. Following a luncheon, graveside services will be held at 2:00 p.m. at Toledo Memorial Park.

Memorial contributions may be made Faith Lutheran Church Building Fund or Trinity Lutheran Church.
