James Edward Black

James Edward Black, age 92, of Maumee, Ohio, passes away peacefully, Friday afternoon, July 17, 2026 at St. Clare Commons in Perrysburg, Ohio. James was born January 4, 1934 in Swanton, Ohio to Rutherford and Ida (Harrington) Black. He married the love of his life, Geraldine Ann VanDyke on November 24, 1956. 

After graduating from Swanton High School in 1952, James joined the United States Air Force serving his country over the next 4 years. James  loved coaching little league during the time his son, Neil played. He enjoyed watching football and was an active member of several churches over the years including, Brailey Union Church and Grace Baptist, as well as, Bethany Baptist Church. 

James is survived by his loving wife of 69 years, Geraldine; daughter, Patricia (George) Wilford; son, Neil (Leslie) Black; 4 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Judy

Services for James will be private.
