James LeRoy Van Order

March 18, 1935 — August 11, 2015

James Leroy Van Order, age 80, of Swanton, Ohio, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family, Tuesday, August 11, 2015 at Hospice of Northwest Ohio in Toledo. He was born March 18, 1935 in Wellsboro, Pennsylvania to Harold John and Vivian Lenora (Mays) Van Order. He was a 1953 graduate of Vestal High School in New York and joined the United States Army serving from 1958 to 1960. He graduated from Delhi University with a degree in agriculture and on November 26, 1960, he married Patricia Schaller.

Jim owned and operated Van Order Pallet Company in Swanton. He worked in Ohio in quality control for Vroman

Foods and Page Dairy. He also worked as a field representative for the Dairyman's League in Pennsylvania. Jim was an avid hunter, involved with beagle field trials, and enjoyed fishing.

Jim is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Patricia; children, Valerie Persinger of Dayton, OH, Casey (Kelly) Van Order of Swanton, OH, and Natalie (Nic) Pallitta of Swanton, OH; 3 grandchildren, Jackie (Jason) Tipton, Michael (Emily) Persinger, and Megan Pallitta; and 3 great-grandchildren.

Jim was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Richard and nephew, Mark Van Order.

Family and friends may visit Friday, August, 14th from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Weigel Funeral Home in Swanton, where a Vigil Service will be held at 7:00 p.m. A Mass of Resurrection will be held Saturday, August 15th at 10:00 a.m. at St. Richards Church, with Fr. Adam Hertzfeld presiding and Deacon Jerry Ziemkiewicz. Interment will be held at a later date at Maine Cemetery in Maine, New York.

Memorial contributions may be made to St. Richard Catholic Church, 333 Brookside Dr., Swanton, OH 43558.

Visitation: Friday, August 14th from 5 to 8 pm at the Weigel Funeral Home in Swanton

Mass of Resurrection: Saturday, August 15th at 10:00 am at St. Richard Catholic Church

Interment at a later date: Maine Cemetery, Maine, New York
