Jan A. Bergeon

Jan A. Bergeon, age 79, of Defiance, Ohio; formerly of Swanton, passed away Saturday morning, June 17, 2017 at Whitehouse Country Manor. He was born April 23, 1938 in Defiance, Ohio to the late George and Unita (Peppers) Bergeon. Jan graduated from Defiance High School and Defiance College. He retired from the Campbells Soup Company in Napoleon, where he worked as a statistician for 34 years.

Jan was an avid Ohio State Buckeyes Fan and loved golfing, fishing and traveling. He was also a member of the Defiance Elks Lodge.

Jan is survived by his sons, Steven Bergeon and Eric Bergeon; grandchildren, Terra, Zach, Olivia, Emily, Allison, Quinn, Breanne and Braden; sister, Joann (Keith) Amunson; brother, Gene Bergeon; the mother of his sons, Mary (Smigelski) Bergeon; as well as several nieces and nephews.

Jan was preceded in death by his parents; son, Brian Bergeon; and brothers, Jack and Jerry Bergeon.

Family and friends may visit Thursday, June 22nd from 3:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Weigel Funeral Home, 204 Chestnut St. in Swanton (419.826.2631). Funeral services will be held Friday, June 23rd at 11:00 a.m. in the funeral home with his brother-in-law, Pastor Keith Amunson officiating. Interment will be private.

Memorial contributions may be directed to the family to be used according to their wishes.
