Joan M. Page, age 78, of Swanton, Ohio, a beloved educator and cherished family member, passed away Thursday morning, September 25, 2025, at the Arbors at Sylvania. Joan was born on April 9, 1947, in Toledo, Ohio, to John and Ann (Trumbull) Farough. Joan married her beloved husband, Jon N. Page on July 6, 1968.
A proud graduate of Swanton High School in 1965, Joan dedicated her adult life to raising children, both her own and others. First as a childcare provider and then as a teacher. She carried the dream of attending college for many years and took the plunge at the tender age of 36 and started her path towards her formal career as teacher. With 4 children at home, she juggled a great deal and graduated Summa Cum Laude a year before Stephanie (her oldest) graduated high school. She spent the rest of her career molding the minds of 5th Graders at St. Richard’s School in Swanton.
Joan got her start teaching at Trinity United Methodist Church as a Sunday School teacher. She was a valued member of the congregation and was very invested, indicating her generous spirit and desire to uplift those around her. Her devotion to her spirituality only grew through the years and it gave her great comfort throughout her life.
Joan’s deepest love was for her husband and family. She was absolutely ecstatic to have her beautiful granddaughters, Morgan and Samantha and her life came to revolved around them. The laughter and love they shared will forever be etched in their hearts. Joan was more than just a mother and grandmother; she was a lifelong friend and confidante to those fortunate enough to be part of her life.
Joan’s interests were broad, but her love for reading stood out. An avid reader, she often found solace in the pages of a good book, immersing herself in worlds that sparked her imagination, while also enriching her own life experiences.
Joan is survived by her loving and devoted husband of 57 years, Jon, who remained her steadfast partner throughout life's journey. She is also survived by her daughter, Stephanie (Jennifer) PageWise, her three sons: Jason (Corri) Page, Jeremy (Holly) Page, and Joshua (Kathy) Page, granddaughters, Morgan and Samantha, her sister, Jennifer Hayes, and her brother, Carl (Pamela) Farough.
Joan was preceded in death by her parents, John and Ann Farough, her sister, Jean Snow and brother, Thomas Farough.
A special thank you to Josh and Kathy’s children, Ashley and Ronnie Leonard for their care during the time that Joan was living at Arbors of Sylvania. Their dedication is deeply appreciated.
A memorial service for Joan will be held Saturday, October 18th at 11:00 am at Trinity United Methodist Church.
