Joan Emily (Saunders) Silcox

Joan Emily (Saunders) Silcox, age 88, of Swanton, Ohio, passed away peacefully in her home, with her loving family at her bedside, Saturday evening, March 9, 2024. Joan was born in Wauseon, Ohio on July 25, 1935 to Verne and Pearl (Leu) Saunders.  She was a devout Christian and an active member of Resurrection Lutheran Church in Maumee, Ohio. 

Joan was very charitable and always willing to help those in need. She enjoyed sitting at home reading her Bible. Joan also looked forward to garage saling with her friends and family. She was very inquisitive and looking things up on Google. When Joan wasn't surfing Google, she was watching cute and funny animal videos on YouTube. 

Joan is survived by her children, Mark (Sheree) Silcox and Jennifer Buckenmeyer; sister, Eleanor (Dave) Shafter and sisters-in-law, Elaine Saunders and Sandra (Dan) Piatt; grandchildren, Amy (Jesse) Bates, Heather Buckenmeyer (Fiance, Ben Forster); 5 great-grandchildren; as well as many nieces and nephews.

Joan was preceded in death by her husband, Jack Silcox; sister, Dorothea Groth; brother, Verlin Saunders; brothers-in-law, Robert Groth and Carroll Silcox; son-in-law, Abe Buckenmeyer and grandson, Aaron Buckenmeyer. 

Visitation for Joan will be held Friday, March 15th from 10 to 11 am at the Resurrection Lutheran Church, 2250 S. Holland-Sylvania Rd. Maumee, OH 43537, where the funeral service will begin at 11:00 am, with Pastor Peter Hagen officiating. Interment will follow at Saint James Cemetery in Archbold, Ohio.
