Joanne A. (VanCoppenolle) Burroughs

Joanne Alma Burroughs, age 86, entered into eternal life Sunday May 29, 2022.  She was born September 22, 1935 in Metamora, OH to Alidor and Leontine (Dierkens) Van Coppenolle, the youngest of nine children.  She married Eldon S. Burroughs who preceded her in death, as did her beloved son, James E. Burroughs.  Joanne was a homemaker most of her life and devoted to her two children, James and Cynthia (Brian) Hoeflinger, and 4 grandchildren, Brian, Kevin, Julie and Christie Hoeflinger.

Joanne loved to go antiquing and find a “diamond in the rough” which she would repair and refinish.  She also taught herself how to re-cane chairs.  She was an accomplished seamstress, often making draperies and clothing.  She was especially proud of making her daughter’s cathedral-length wedding veil, spending hours hand-sewing on beaded lace medallions.  

In addition to her husband and son, Joanne was preceded in death by her parents, grandson Brian and 8 siblings, Martha Hamilton, Margaret Molter, Alberta Haupricht, and Albert, Julius, Richard, Charles and George Van Coppenolle.

Family and friends may visit Thursday, June 16th from 5-7 pmat the Weigel Funeral Home in Metamora Ohio.  Services will be held at the funeral home on Friday, June 17th at 11 am.  Interment will follow at Amboy Township Cemetery.
