John A. Dumas

John Dumas, 78, passed away peacefully on April 19, at Ayden Health Care. He was born September 2, 1944, to David and Valeria Dumas, in Toledo, Ohio. John was a devout Catholic, growing up in St. Michael’s Catholic Church, Toledo, and then in adulthood he was a member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Assumption. John married his bride of 52 years, Joyce Langenderfer, on June 19, 1970. Together they were blessed with three children, who were the apples of his eye.

John was an avid classic car lover. Working on his cars was his passion, and he loved listening to the “oldies.” Along with his cars, John loved and adored his 11 grandchildren. John retired from Lucas County, where he worked as a Building Inspector, and prior to that he was a self-employed plumber/builder for many years.

He is survived by his wife, Joyce; son, Brad (Tara) and their sons, Adam and William; daughter, Jackie (Frank) Marcinkiewicz, and their children, Maxwell, Kaia, Sarah, Annie, Lydia and Seth; daughter-in-law, Amy, and her daughters, Grace and Maggie; granddaughter, Sarah Dumas; siblings, Joseph Dumas and Carol Spain; numerous nieces and nephews; and best friends, Duane and Kathy Drouillard, aka “The Buds.”

John was preceded in death by his parents; son, Kevin Dumas; grandson, Zachary Marcinkiewicz; and siblings, Elaine Crippen, David Dumas and twin brother, James Dumas.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Saturday, April 22^nd at 11:00 am at Immaculate Conception Church, 1750 N. Raab Rd, Swanton, OH, with Fr. Michael Dandurand presiding. Visitation will be from 10:00 am to 11:00 am at the church. Interment will follow at Marygrove Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Holy Trinity Catholic Church or Promedica Hospice.
