John Earl Green

John E. Green, age 60, of Lyons, Ohio, passed away peacefully at home, Thursday afternoon, January 23, 2020.  He was born July 8, 1959 in Toledo, OH to Joseph and Barbara (Kasch) Green. John was a 1977 graduate of Springfield High School.

John was an amazing car painter. He was a volunteer firefighter for Berkey/Richfield Township, serving as Assistant Chief of the Fire Department and Chief of Rescue. He loved watching NASCAR and playing golf. 

He was a loving husband and Dad to his children. He taught them the love of dipping French Fries in ice cream and how to fix cars. As Poppy, he taught his grandkids to skip rocks. 

He is survived by his loving wife, Connie, daughter, Ann (Joshua) Harsch of Austin, TX; sons, Nathan Green and TJ (Becca) Peterson of Phoenix, AZ grandchildren, Claire, Jonathan, & Samuel Harsch and Gabrielle & Isabella Green. He is also survived by his sisters, Cathy (Jody Don) Glenn and Jodi (Mickey) Penn; as well as several nieces, nephews and friends. 

John was preceded in death by his parents, brother Robert Green, and stepfather Robert Roop.  

A memorial service will be held Tuesday, January 28th at 7:00 p.m. at the Weigel Funeral Home in Metamora, with Pastor Bruce Jewett officiating.

Memorial contributions may be made to a charity of the donor's choice.
