Joseph Eisel Brown

Joseph Eisel Brown, age 71, of Lyons, Ohio, died unexpectedly of a heart attack, Saturday morning, November 3, 2012. He was born December 15, 1940 in Berkey, Ohio to Wayne and Hilda (Eisel) Brown. Joe graduated from St. Mary’s High School in Assumption and served in the U.S. Army Reserves.

Joe worked for GM Hydra-Matic Transmission Plant for 32 years, retiring in 1991. He was a member of Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church in Lyons until it closed, and attended Holy Trinity Parish in Assumption. He was a member of Catholic War Veterans Post #306 in Assumption. Joe was an Ohio State Buckeyes and Detroit Tigers fan, and was an avid golfer. Joe was known never to be late for two things - Mass or a tee time.

Joe is survived by his loving wife, Margaret; sister, JoAnn (Tom) McGhee of Swanton, OH; children, Lori (Jeff) Miller of Wauseon, OH, Joe (Karen) Brown of Metamora, OH, Kevin (Carol) Brown of Maumee, OH, Scott (Dana) Brown of Morenci, MI; stepchildren, Barb (Cal) Teal of Lyons, OH, Tena (Brad) Miller of Lyons, OH, Teresa Loga of Delta, OH, and Bernita (Flite) Freimann of Granville, OH; 12 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; 14 step-grandchildren; and 9 step-great-grandchildren.

Joe was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Vicki Brown; daughter-in-law, Michelle Brown; and brother-in-law, William Onweller.

Family and friends may visit Tuesday, November 6th from 2 to 8 p.m. at the Weigel Funeral Home in Metamora, where a CWV service will begin at 7:00 p.m., followed by a Vigil service. Prayers will begin in the funeral home at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, November 7th, followed by a Mass of Resurrection at 11:00 a.m. at Holy Trinity Catholic Church at Assumption. Fr. Ron Schock will officiate. Interment, with Military Rites, will follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to Lyons Fire and Rescue or the American Heart Association.
