Joyce A. Augustyniak

Joyce A. Augustyniak, age 83, of Swanton, Ohio, passed away Monday evening, March 29, 2021, at Ebeid Hospice in Sylvania. She was born November 22, 1937 in Woronoco, Massachusetts to William and Henrietta (Hasenjager) Kittel. Joyce was a 1955 graduate of Maumee High School. On April 26, 1958, Joyce married the love of her life, Leonard Augustyniak. Joyce spent all of her life working in the banking industry. At the age of 16, she started out working as a secretary for First National Bank located in Maumee, and then at the Airport. In January 1993, she retired from Fifth Third Bank as branch manager.

Joyce was a member of Faith Evangelical Lutheran Church in Swanton. She enjoyed crocheting and knitting blankets, hats and mittens, and donating her work to local charities. She also enjoyed playing games on the computer.

Left to cherish her memory is her beloved husband of 62 years, Leonard; daugher, Michelle (Joe) Schwind; her grandchildren, whom she was affectionately known by as "Baba", Gretchen Vollmar, Jason Schwind and Tasha (Tom) Simpson; great-grandchildren, Abbigail Augustyniak, Brennen Simpson, Aiden Vollmar and Carver Simpson; her sister, Christine Wein; as well as many nieces and nephews.

Joyce was preceded in death by her parents, William and Henrietta; son, Donald Augustyniak; sister, Gail Brown and brothers, William and Robert Kittel.

Visitation will be held Friday, April 2nd from 3 to 8 p.m. at the Weigel Funeral Home in Swanton. Visitation will continue Saturday, April 3rd from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. in the funeral home, where services will begin at 11:00 a.m.. Rev. Edward Strietelmeier will officiate. Interment will follow at Highland Memory Gardens in Waterville.

The family wishes to thank the nurses and staff at Ebeid Hospice for the compassionate care given to Joyce throughout the last week of her life.

Memorial contributions may be made to Faith Evangelical Lutheran Church or Ebeid Hospice.
