Kenneth A. Slawinski, age 59, of Delta, Ohio, passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by his family, Saturday evening, June 18, 2016. He was born February 2, 1957 in Toledo, Ohio to Richard and Norma Jeanne (Walsh) Slawinski. He was a 1975 graduate of the former Divine Word Seminary in Perrysburg. On November 22, 2000, he married Mindi Deblin and she survives.
Kenny worked as a gas station attendant for the Ohio Turnpike and was awarded a certificate of appreciation from SOHIO for providing excellent service to stranded motorists at the rest stop during the blizzard of '78. He had a 20-year career as a sanitary engineer with the Swanton Local School District. Kenny also worked as a custodian and repairman at K-C Lanes (now known as The Swanton Sports Center) that was previously owned by his parents Richard and Norma Jeanne Slawinski. He even attended Brunswick headquarters where he learned how to repair the equipment. Following his kidney transplant in 2003, Kenny went to work as a material handler for BAX Global until its closing.
Kenny enjoyed gardening and was known as having a green thumb. He loved to BBQ, fishing at Clear Lake and taking vacations. He and Mindi just returned from the Outer Banks where they enjoyed the beach and watching the gorgeous sunsets.
Kenny had a love for his grandbabies and boston terriers. He will be remembered for his self taught musical ability playing the guitar, as well as entertaining family and friends by playing his homemade hammered dulcimer during special events.
Kenny's quick wit and wonderful personality will be greatly missed by his loving wife of 16 years, Mindi; son, John Slawinski; stepdaughters, Angie (Seth) Izor and Nicole (Jeff) Geisbuhler; grandchildren, Bailey and Aiden Izor and Hudson Geisbuhler; mother, Norma Jeanne of Swanton, OH; sister, Mary Jeanne Stine of Delta, OH; brothers, Richard P. (Virginia) Slawinski of Richfield Center, Thomas (Eloise) Slawinski of Assumption, OH, Donald (Bonnie) Slawinski of Thornton, CO, Steven (Sue) Slawinski of Swanton, OH, William (Patricia) Slawinski of Toledo, OH, and Joseph (Wendy) Slawinski of Swanton, OH; brother-in-law, Randy (Diane) Deblin; as well as several nieces and nephews.
Kenny was preceded in death by his father, Richard; brother-in-law, Hal Stine and mother and father-in-law, Virginia Rose and Jim Deblin.
