Larry Ellsworth Balko, age 84, of Grand Rapids, Ohio, peacefully passed away Wednesday morning, November 3, 2021 at Briar Hill Health Campus in North Baltimore, Ohio. Larry was born September 4, 1937 Saginaw, Michigan to Robert Samuel and Norma Rose (Biggers) Balko. Larry graduated from Cooper Township High School and enlisted in the United States Army. He attended Airborne School and served in the 377th Artillery of the 101st Airborne Division. Larry was awarded the Parachutist Badge and Good Conduct Medal. He married Dorothy Burow in April 1959, and together they had 4 children, Larry (Scott), Liane, Cheryl and Matthew.
Larry worked as a service representative for Waste Management and was a
member of the White Water Worship Center in Waterville.
Larry is survived by his children, Larry (Carol) Balko, Cheryl (David) Scott and Matthew (Rhonda) Balko; 11 grandchildren, Erin (Mike) Parcells, Andrew (Karen) Balko, Emily (William) Baxter, Anthony Balko, John (Emily) Hallett, Emily (Robert) Barneman, Jarrad Balko, Nathan (Kyah) Balko, Devon (Salim) Balko, Chelsea (Nathan) Grzincic and Olivia Wintringham and 7 great-grandchildren, Bailey, Maddie, Ulrik, Samantha, Sofia, Emmett and Callum; siblings Myrna Conklin, Robert Balko and Ted Balko.
Larry was proceeded in death by his wife, Dorothy, daughter, Liane Balko, and loving companion, Sira Gonzales.

Visitation will be held Sunday, November 7th from 4-8 p.m. at the Weigel Funeral Home in Swanton, Ohio. Funeral Services will be held Monday, November 8th at 11:00 a.m. in the funeral home with Reverend Lori Strang officiating. Interment, with Military Rites, will follow at Wakeman Cemetery in Waterville, Ohio.
