Laura Amy Topel

Laura Amy Topel, age 92, of Swanton, Ohio, passed away peacefully, Friday morning, September 24, 2021, at Spring Meadows Care Facility in Holland, Ohio. She was born June 17, 1929 to Herschel and Lottie (Signs) Rose.

Laura was a member of the Christian Missionary Alliance Church and Swanton American Legion Murbach Siefert Post #479. She loved birds and had a passion for collecting birdhouses. She also loved tropical fish and lighthouses. She always had her house decorated for the holidays and you would never find her without her beads.

Laura is survived by her children, Christine Souslin, Gary (Karen) Topel, Susan (Tom) Farough, Paula Wheeler and Terry (Brenda) Topel; 10 grandkids; 26 great-grandkids and 8 great-great-grandkids. She is also survived by her brothers, Jack (Gail) Wymer and George (Rita) Wymer; brother-in-law, Bob Decker and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Laura was preceded in death by her granddaughters, Kelly Clawson and Rebecca Souslin; sister, Ruth Decker and sons-in-law, Dale Wheeler and Richard “Dick” Souslin.

Visitation will be held Tuesday, September 28th from 3 to 7 p.m. at the Weigel Funeral Home in Swanton. Funeral Services will be held Wednesday, September 29th at 11:00 a.m. in the funeral home, with Pastor Jeremy Rands officiating. Interment will follow at East Swanton Cemetery.
