Maria L. Muniz

Maria L. Muniz, age 90, of Toledo, Ohio, entered into eternal life, Friday, morning, September 21, 2018 at her daughter's home in Galax, Virginia.  She was born July 22, 1928 in Cotulla, Texas to Celestina (Espaza) and Condalero Lopez.  Marie was a homemaker raising her twelve children. 

Marie was a member of St. Peter and Paul's Catholic Church and St. Richard Catholic Parish in Swanton.  In her spare time she enjoyed crocheting.

Left to cherish her memory are her children, Gilberto Casiano, Amanda I. Montoya, George (Colleen) Casiano, Alberto (Diane) Casiano, Mario Casiano, Alvarro Casiano, Rolando Casiano, Rachel Knisely, Alicia (Tom) Bredon and Dolores Cambell; 47 grandchildren; 101 great-grandchildren; 26 great-great-grandchildren; sister, Guadalupe Sanchez; as well as numerous nieces and nephews and great-nieces and nephews.

Maria was preceded in death by her first husband, Salomon Casiano, and second husband, Jose Muniz,  Maria was preceded in death by her parents; sons, Terseo Casiano and Teofilo Casiano; brother, Chon Lopez and sister, Yolanda Gutierrez.

Visitation will be held Friday, September 28th from 2 to 8 p.m. at the Weigel Funeral Home, 204 Chestnut St. in Swanton (419.826.2631), where a Vigil Service will be held at 7:30 p.m.  A Mass of Resurrection will be celebrated on Saturday, September 29th at 2:00 p.m. at St. Richard Catholic Church, 333 Brookside Dr. in Swanton.  Interment will follow at St. Richard's Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to a charity of the donor's choice.
