Marie A. Gurwell

Marie A. Gurwell, age 80, of Delta, Ohio, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her loving family, Monday evening, December 18, 2017, at Fulton Manor Nursing and Rehab Center. She was born on September 11, 1937 to Adolf and Clara (Damman) Rathge. On September 5, 1959, Marie married Herbert Gurwell. She worked as a teachers aid at Pike-Delta-York Schools retiring in 1996.

Marie was a very active member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Delta. She was also a member of the German Club. Marie enjoyed fishing, cross-stitching, crocheting, and polka dancing. Most of all she enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.

She is survived by her loving husband, Herbert Gurwell; children, Matthew J. Gurwell, Benjamin J. (Lyla) Gurwell, and Rebecca (Jay) Schermond; grandchildren, Adam, Jason, Andrea, Nicole, Sydney, and Megan; 9 great-grandchildren, and many loving nieces and nephews.

Marie was preceded in death by her parents, sister, Esther, and brother, Wilfred.

Family and friends may visit, Thursday, December 21, 2017, from 2 to 8 p.m. at the Grisier-Weigel Funeral Home, 400 West Main St. in Delta (419.822.3121). Funeral Services will begin at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, at Trinity Lutheran Church, 410 Taylor St., Delta, Ohio, with Pastor Ed Strietelmeier officiating. Interment will follow at Evansport Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to Trinity Lutheran Church in Delta Endowment Fund.
