Martin J. Scherzer

Martin J. Scherzer, age 84, lifelong resident of Swanton, Ohio, passed away in his home, Thursday morning, March 21, 2024. Martin was born October 6, 1939 in Swanton to Joseph Martin and Josephine (Kasper) Scherzer.  Martin served in the Army National Guard and married Julia Myers.  She preceded him death.  He was also preceded in death by his parents; son, Joe Scherzer; daughter, Denise Boyd and sister, Katherine Tack.

Martin owned and operated Jay-Mar Builders, Inc. for 38 years. He was an old classic car enthusiast and interested in anything with a gas motor. He enjoyed going to see the Threshers at the fair, watching Nascar, and was a collector of rare gas lanterns. He also loved his weiner dogs.

Martin will be greatly missed by his son, Eric Scherzer; daughter, Tamara (Greg) Maki; 6 grandkids; 10 great-grandkids; 3 great-great-grandkids; and his sister, Dottie Rich. 

Services for Martin will be private.
