Mary Elizabeth Finfera, age 94, of Swanton, Ohio, entered into eternal rest, Thursday morning, March 6, 2008, at the Swanton Health Care and Retirement Center. She was born April 12, 1913 in Toledo, Ohio to the late Nicholas and Mary E. (Renard) Schiel. On April 7, 1944, she married Joseph G. Finfera, and he preceded her in death on May 2, 2000. Also preceding her in death were her brothers, Nicholas Schiel and Joseph Schiel and sisters, Mary Keeler and Madeline Sieler.

Mary worked for various retail and industrial firms in the Northwest Ohio area. However, the majority of her life she was a homemaker. She was a faithful member of St. Richard Catholic Church, the Altar and Rosary Society and Rosary Prayer Chain.

Mary was an accomplished seamstress. She enjoyed needlework, baking, gardening, canning and freezing fruits and vegetables and working crossword puzzles. Mary thoroughly enjoyed being a member of the pinochle club.

She is survived by her daughter, Sister Marie Joy (Rosemary) Finfera, of Adrian, MI; son, Jerry, and his wife Agnes Finfera of Whitehouse, OH and grandchildren, Joseph (Kim) Finfera, Amy Finfera and Jennifer Finfera.

Friends and family may visit Sunday, March 9th from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at the Weigel Funeral Home in Swanton, where the Rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. Prayers will begin in the funeral home on Monday, March 10th at 9:30 a.m., followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Richard Catholic Church at 10:00 a.m. Fr. Daniel Zak will officiate. Interment will follow at St. Richard’s Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice.
