Mary Elizabeth Glanz

Mary Elizbeth Glanz (Mary Beth) age, 69, of Ottawa Lake, Michigan, entered into eternal life, Saturday, September 22, 2018 at Sunset Village in Sylvania.  She was bron September 11, 1949 in Toledo, Ohio to Mary Francis (Korfel) and John Pokorney.  Mary married Roger Glanz on September 24, 1966 in Toledo, Ohio.  He preceded her death on October 1, 2017.  

Mary enjoyed her work as a secretary at both Pelham Manor in Toledo followed by Kuhlman Corporation, where she retired due to disability from her long stand battle with Multiple Sclerosis. Her hobbies included weekly visits and dates with Roger to the Sylvania Moose Lodge and Sylvania Elks Lodge, Bingo nights, and trips to Upper Michigan visiting family and trips to the casino. 

Mary Beth was a dedicated, loyal, devoted wife to her loving husband of 51 years, Roger Glanz.  Together they had four children, John P. (Lisa) Glanz, M. Melissa Donnelly, Laura K. (John) Dillon, and Rochelle E. (Kevin) Whitmore. As an only child, she enjoyed watching her family grow as the years went on that included 22 grandchildren.

She is also survived by sisters and brothers-in-law, Sr. Loretta Glanz, Jane (Joe) Arbuckle, Janet (Barry) Cook, Victor (Diane) Glanz, Sally (Ron) McClary, Norma Glanz and Bob Clemens. 

Besides her loving husband, Roger, Mary was preceded in death by her parents.

Family and friends may visit Thursday, September 27th from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Weigel Funeral Home in Metamora, Ohio, where a Rosary service will be held at 7:30 p.m.

A Mass of Resurrection will be held Friday, September 28th at 11:00 a.m. at Holy Trinity Catholic Church at Assumption, where visitation will be from 10:30 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. prior to mass, with Fr. Michael Dandurand presiding.  Interment will follow at a later date at St. Mary’s Cemetery.

The family wishes to thank the nurses and staff at Sunset Village for the exceptional care they provided our mother over the past several years.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Holy Trinity Catholic Church or Holy Trinity Catholic School Scholarship fund.
